Waynesboro Cultural Commission offers two screenwriting workshops

waynesboro2editsThe Waynesboro Cultural Commission is offering a workshop series with award-winning screenwriter Alexander Gillies on back-to-back Wednesdays, June 5 and 12.

Call 943-9999 to register. The workshop will be held at the Wayne Theatre Alliance office building at 533 W. Main St., Waynesboro, VA

In response to public requests, the Waynesboro Cultural Commission is continuing its popular screenwriting workshop in June. Two intensive evening workshops — from 7 to 9 pm — will introduce potential authors to screenwriting. Instructor Alexander “Zan” Gillies says that writing a great screenplay is a little inspiration and a lot of craft.: “By exploring what makes good storytelling one of the most powerful forces on the planet, we’ll discover the tools that keep writers writing and keep their readers reading.”

The instructor will discuss the curriculum with new and returning students to make sure the subject matter is relevant for all.

Zan Gillies is a freelance filmmaker, videographer and editor. He has a BA in Film Studies from the College of William and Mary and has been featured as a guest reviewer on the Scriptshadow screenplay review blog. He has been a finalist and semi-finalist in various screenwriting contests, including The Writer’s Store’s Industry Insider Competition. At last year’s Richmond 48 Hour Film Project, his team’s film won “Best In Show.” Zan lives in Waynesboro.
