Shenandoah Valley Art Center: September 2012 events

The Shenandoah Valley Art Center, during the month of September, is exhibiting the watercolor paintings of Waynesboro artist, Pat Cook, who has exhibited and won awards both nationally and internationally.

Many of these pieces will be on loan by Pat’s collectors, so this is a rare local opportunity to see an entire exhibit of the popular Conversations Series.  She is a signature member of many organizations, including the American Watercolor Society, the National Watercolor Society, the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Society and the Georgia, Missouri, Southern, Virginia Watercolor Societies.  Also, she is an artist member of the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and Watercolor Honor Society.  Her work has been exhibited at the Butler Museum of American Art, Youngstown, Ohio; Foothills Art Center, Golden Colorado; Salmagundi Club, New York, New York and Springfield Art Museum, Springfield, Missouri, among other venues.

She has experience as a juror and teaches workshops on national and local levels.  She has had articles and paintings published in International Artist Magazine, The Artists Magazine, American Artist, Palette Magazine and Watercolor Artist.  An Opening Reception will be held September 6, 5:00 – 7:00pm and the public is encouraged to come and meet the artist after she speaks briefly about her work.

In the Hallway Gallery, two separate art groups will be showcased.  On the walls, the Shenandoah Valley Painter’s Society members: Ruby Canady, Carol Martin, and Ralph Frink, will hang works in a variety of media.  On pedestals, the Central Virginia Woodturners’s Association will exhibit beautifully crafted art created by carving and lathe work, using fallen trees and other found wood. This exhibit will include SVAC members: Miles Everard, Dennis Hippen, and Tom Evans; as well as works from the CVWA’s vast membership base. In the Member’s Gallery, an exhibition of the Artist’s Choice theme will be presented.  In the Docent Room, Don Whitson will be the featured watercolor artist.

Shenandoah Valley Art Center offers, for members of the center and community, many workshops and classes taught by professional artists.
